another LED Tail-light retrofit

I did these for another Maxima owner. I mounted the LED boards inside the housing (not on diffuser) to not show the individual LEDs. The effect is almost horizontal lines of light.

Due to time constraints I wont get to mount them on my car and take pics, only a quick mock up test. Hopefully the buyer will post some pics of his car with lights mounted.

hard to get the lights to stay straight to get an accurate photo

side views are pretty good too, LEDs reflect more light than the OEM bulbs

feedback welcome..

Your boards are too far back. That is the reason your leds look like one line. I personally dont like it.But to each its own.

yea, I did move them back. I was debating between leaving them closer to lense or moving them back. I personally like not seeing the individual LEDs. but like you said, its a personal taste - I hope the buyer likes this

here is a slightly more parallel to the lens photo

Kzoosho ..... ROFLMAO! Mate, I love that sig! "Are you coming to bed" ... my g/f is all the time asking me that and I am on the .org! lol

to the OP, I don't like them for a couple reasons, not to unload on your work. I just don't like how it looks to be honest and, they can't be as bright as Kevlo's with the board being so far back, not to mention, I see LOTS of little LEDs and Kevlo only used a handfull, but they were SUPER bright. But, like said, if you like them, then F everyone else! You are who it matters to, not us.

i like it ok and started out with the same general idea, but because i've done it that way i know how the light breaks up unevenly. i didn't like it, thats why i revised my designs a few times. something between yours and kzooshoo's (prototypes):

Kzoosho, I like the 3 row design, less cluttered, and looks like it reflects a lot better(might just be the pics), but liking the 3 row fo sure!!!(I think 4 is too much). The 4 is cool too though, I just think 3 rows is nicer from a distance(u can tell they are led's, with 4, I heard from a distance they look stock but brighter). Either way good job on both! So where's the sticky for this? : ). Sorry now that I read this again, the look u were going for is to NOT see that its LED'd(I dont even know if thats a word).

I think they're all good looking! After I decide if I'm parting with my maxima I will decide whether or not to send my taillights to kzoosho to do some LED taillights. From pictures I've seen he does an awesome job and well worth the asking price for his services.

When it comes down to the individual led look, I like the three row design over the four. However, I think that the connected lines look that you have going on with four rows is *sharp*. I'd love to see a night shot of those too.

I think that the 3-row design looks best, but with no LEDs on the reverse or turns, just the regular bulbs. With LEDs in the turns and reverse, it just looks too busy.

i personally like the wizards the best. 3 row ftmfw!. i would also add the led tails and reverse , you have to think of it like these this the leds should never be on at the same time unless duh! you are using a turn signal, reversing, or hazards so i dont IMO think its to busy. but everyone has there own taste..to me it seems incomplete with out them.

Thanks guys! here's the night shot coachholland

I appreciate the feedback from kzooshoo and BLACKonBLACK98, its nice to hear from guys who have been thru the motions. I like both your designs and board placement. I was just trying to do something a lil different from you guys. I might move them slightly more towards the lens and experiment, if I make another.

here's just another cool photo

just FYI: there are only 32 LEDs on the inner and 37 on the outer.

For some reason, it still seems your light output/appearance is weak compared to the rest of ours....

I think its my camera over adjusting the exposure. The LEDs are putting out more intensity than the OEM tails. Thats why I put them next for comparison. I'll try to take some more pics.
