What's rubbing?

I have a squeaking sound coming from the driver's side front wheel area. Happens when the car is moving, never when its stopped so something is rubbing. I dont think its the brakes because I had my mechanic look at them a few weeks ago and he said the only thing was that there was a little bit of rust, which he cleaned off. The sound is especially noticeable when going past guardrails or parked cars, not really out in the open unless the speed is low (otherwise wind noise drowns it out). Any ideas? I'm thinking dust shield... what else could it be?

all noises will get louder driving next a wall or some sort of barrier guys. Check to see if anyhting might be "stuck" around the area by any chance, then also check the think iron cover thing over the rotor.

Yeah, obv - the sound resonates off the object.
Iron cover thing is the dust shield, isnt it?

Yup, it is ....

I am guessing maybe wheel bearing. One way to check it is to jack the car up and spin the wheel. If you hear the sound, you know it has to be from the hub, not any susspension parts. If you are not sure if it's the hub, remove the calipar assy and then spin it again.

Look for loose pieces of the plastic skirt rubbing the wheel. They're not always obvious.

i had same problem & it drove me nuts. i finally took it to my mechanic & it was determined that the front pass bearing & hub needs to be replaced. she is back in shape & running as smooth & quiet.
