What is the deal with HF fuel filters

I have a 97 I30, and I was wondering if there are any perfomance or efficiency perks for replaceing the fuel filter for a "high flow"? And what is the difference in a OEM and a "High Flow"? I have 53k on my car, is it worth doing?
