Differences between 95-96 Fog lights and 97-99 fog lights

Hey guys, I bought my car almost a year ago and its a 96 SE. The fog lights where broken but i didn't find it much of a problem at the time because i got a great price for it. Now that i brought the car back to shape I want to get the fog lights back in so there won't be 2 useless holes in my bumper any more. Come to find out that finding 95-96 Fog lights are nearly impossible or expensive as hell. What's the difference between the 95-96 and 97-99 fog lights? Would I be able to buy the 97-99 fog lights and put them in since they are more common around the net and cheaper? Appreciate all the info.

Size is different, shape is different and so 97-99 wont fit in 95-96 and vice versa.

+1

if the 95 fogs are that expensive/rare, maybe do a 97 conversion. that would include 97 bumper, grille, and fogs. 97 front end looks SOOOO much better IMO.

Yeah i like the 97 front end, i just like the 96 grill more, dont really dig that line that leads to the hamburger, prefer the mesh. I might just have to wait for a 95-96 fog lights to come up in classifieds, or start looking into a 97 conversion.

Although the 95-96 fogs sound expensive,Wouldnt it be cheaper than doing an entire conversion.? Is the $$$ the case here or the looks basically.?

I'll agree with you on the 95-96 grill. I wish There was a way of using it with the 97 bumper without there being gaps...

I suppose I was trying to say, if you're gonna be spending a considerable amount on 95 fogs, maybe spend a bit more for the newer front end. I know bumpers and grills are CHEAP from certifit. Whatever floats your boat.

Isn't this a question that can easily be answered by simply looking at Maxima pics and/or hitting the streets???

Yes, but I can understand why he's asking.

I have had questions which I thought had obvious answers. I still wanted to have a DEFINITE yes or no before dumping money into a decision based on the answer.

^ Seriously. And where are you looking for fogs? Ebay has them for sure and you're looking at around 90 (on Ebay) for the pair with mounting brackets regardless 95/96 or 97/99.

Not true for 95/96 fogs. They are much harder to find and aren't on ebay that often.

However there is one drivers side listed on there right now if you want to try your luck at that one and then look for a passenger side.

I did see that one side on Ebay and was thinking about it. The only universal ones i found on ebay are the round ones which might look nice if someone made a round whole in their bumper for it but i already have 2 big holes made for the 95-96 fogs that used to be there before i got the car so it wouldn't make sense to put the circular ones and make it look really riced out.
Money is definently an issue as i am a college student and can't throw all my money to my car no matter how much I want to. And i understood Mowgli, since fogs for my year are really expensive i might just save up more and do a whole conversion but I want to try my luck at getting the fogs since it would be cheaper then a whole conversion would be. I was thinking of trying the 97-99 fogs with a little conversion if it was possible which is why i started the thread, but it doesn't seem possible without doing the whole conversion to make it look right.

yes i have made this mistake before. i have a 96 and i bought 97-99 foglights on ebay for $140 shipped. they came with the mounting brackets and everything. my front bumper is aftermarket and it still would fit.

when i finally found 95-96 fogs on ebay they were something like $120 PER SIDE!!!! definitely expensive and i still don't have them. i need to though because i have an HID kit for fogs that has been sitting in my room for over a year and a half now.
