UDP help!

I am installing a UR pulley but it does not slide on smooth, nor did the old one slide off smooth. Is there a problem with tapping it on? This is a TRUE UDP

At first, I read you were using 'tape'.

Anyhow...as long as no damage is done to it(I.E. Use a rubber mallet) you can tap it.

Per the FSM, a slight coat of oil should be applied to the inner wall of the UDP/crank pulley upon reinstallation. Also, check the seal to make sure it's still good. I believe the FSM calls for it to be replaced everytime the crank pulley is removed etc...

How did you get the old crank pulley off???

ONE BIG *** SCREW DRIVER could not get the gear puller to work and was tired of going back and forth to Auto Zone

The car is now back together with new oil seal and all seems well

Most import cars you shouldn't even need a puller for? I routinely grab them on either side and 'walk' them off. My 3.0L at 170k came off by hand. IIRC, no maxima I've even taken the crank pulley off of has ever required a puller. My UDP on the 3.5 slid on just like mowgli29 stated, halfway on, a few taps with a mallet, and tightened the bolt.

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was going to slide all the way on and the directions from UR says not to force it so I wasnt sure.

When I took my stock pulley off it was easy as hell-but it was quite a tight fit putting the UD pulley in, so I eased it on with my impact gun once it was centered. Wish I had read about coating the sleeve with oil-prob would have made it easier
