ABS light on with headlights ONLY

have a 98 SE and the ABS light is coming on ONLY when i put the headlights on. I have aftermarket HID's. I've had the HID's in for a few months now and no problems but now when i start the car and turn the headlights on the ABS light comes on....the ABS will NOT come on if i dont turn the headlights on. I performed the grounding of pin 4 and came up with code 25(left front sensor open). I'm going to look into the wires but just thought it was strange that it only come on with the headlights.

Anyone else have/had this problem???

thanks

Did you do anything else recently with wiring, or in the engine bay?

Take a look at the harness, that's really all you can do for now.

the only thing i have done to the car is installed the HID's but i used relays on both sides and that was about 2-2.5months ago. The ABS light just started happening last week. Also i noticed that if im driving for a few minutes then turn the headlights on the ABS light does NOT come on. i think im going to try and install a grounding kit and see if that helps...to me it seems like a voltage drop from turning the HID's on.

Bingo.. The ABS system is very sensitive to voltage changes. Check the condition of your charging system, battery included.

that sounds about right.

how was your alternator prior to the instal of the hids? did the headlights dim a bit at night when you press the brake pedal? You alt might be on its way out or the volt regulator is bad (built itno the alt.)

altenator is brand new along with the harness for the altenator. I'm going to make an engine ground kit and check the grounds on the car, also make sure the battery is still good. thanks

I would look into an aftermarket voltage regulator. It acts like a capacitor and gives you the extra power when your car is demanding it. I agree with the above on it being a voltage drop. Your HIDs need that voltage to start, when the light comes on, it won't go off until you restart your car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-C-...a9e315&vxp=mtr Here, there is even a video you can watch. You don't have to get this exact one, they all work pretty much the same.

Guys, this thread is 4 years old and OP has not even logged in to the org for a year. Guess the info may be relevant to someone else but probably not to the OP
