96 Maxima Sunroof track messed up (1 side)
girlfriends 96 Maxima has a sunroof issue. the passenger side seems to be stuck in the rear corner. when you put the sunroof into its DOWN (or closed) position, the passenger rear corner of the glass sits below the flush level with the roof.
When you attempt to open the sunroof, the drivers side lifts as it should, but the passenger side remains in the same position unless you manually slide the mechanism within the track (forward). If you hold the forward pressure on the mechanism and attempt to open the roof, it'll open as it should. It will not however return to closed when you close it.
Did a pin or something that makes this move break?
Is this a common problem? Is there a common fix?

You can purchase a repair kit for it at your local Nissan dealer. The job is somewhat involved, but DIY capable. The headliner has to come down, to do that you must remove the sunvisors, side pillars and anything else thats bolted to or through the headliner. All the edges must be free and clear to drop down. It's only held up with clips, so gently pry and pull and it will come down. The sunroof assy is bolted onto the roof frame with a few I think 10mm bolts. Take the glass out first, there are 4 bolts under the plastic trim and it just pops out the roof of the car. Unbolt the frams assy from the roof and take it out of the car. Don't forget the disconnect the 4 drain tubes before you drop the sunroof. Then just replace the broken parts with what you get in the kit and you should be good to go.

Funny, I went to my Nissan dealer here, asked about a sunroof repair kit, guy kinda laughed at me, but looked anyway, and nothing came up. Just the whole assembly for 1100$. Do you happen to have the part number for the rebuild kit, or price, or where did you find yours(assuming you got one)?
