How much did a shop charge you for a clutch install?

with the lack of time I have, and this being my only car for work, I can't do the clutch myself, (plus I sold a lot of tools in the past year) And I am getting rid of my jack soon too... and I not much of a place to do the job. I am already gonna do the axle at my ladyfriends house... I can't be like... yo so can I do a clutch? only will take a few days... lol

NEway... How much did you guys get charged? I want to get an Exedy OEM installed this summer, one guy I know at a Transmission shop told me about a grand with his Centerforce brand clutches. I thought that was a bit high then he said.. ok $900, still high imo... So what should I expect for prices if I bring the clutch in to them? I'd say $500 in labor.. but thats just me...

I also wanna go to a place that does them a lot, so time is good, and they know what there doing, being a former mech, u can get paranoid when other ppl touch you car for serious stuff... lol

I also know a shop that put a clutch disk in BACKWARDS.. I mean.. HOW do u mess that up... there is a mark on the thing for crying out loud... lol

I wouldn't pay more then $250 in labor. Then add on price of clutch $100 and between $20-$50 to have the flywheel resurfaced.

Whereabouts you located??

My dad works for a car restoration shop on the South Shore and is right next door to a great transmission shop who has been there for quite a while. They do awesome work and replaced my clutch last summer for me on my 97 Max. Believe I paid a little under 700. It's about 450-500 for the labor which I have heard is fairly standard. Believe he said 5 hours of labor. Not sure if you live in Boston or a suburb but let me know. And if you set up the appointment he does it all in one day so you aren't without your car forever. If you want more info on his shop lmk.

i was quoted $450 on a clutch job by a local shop. One day while at the front counter a guy came in while i was talking about needing a new clutch and he offered to do it for $200, lol. so yeh, labor prices will range depending on who you talk to. I ended up doing it myself....

Yep, he's in MA (Middleboro, to be exact - not too far from you).

Kevin's the man - he did the clutch in my 95 SE about 3 months ago. Service, price, and quality of work were great.

well i changed it myself, installed a exedy clutch and pressure plate. it took us (2 people) 1 day, so it wasnt that bad for me, but thats because we were using my friends shop with a lift and all the tools.
But i also found a shop that said they will do it for $300. parts and labor.

About $700 in the bay area where I'm at. This was including parts and labor (clutch was some oem equivalent- prolly not the best but something decent)

It shouldnt cost you more than $800, but that all depends on the clutch you get

bksmax, does that offer still stand for the $300 clutch install? And do you still have the exedy clutch, I know its been like 7 months. What about the flywheel? How much for the total job? I'm in NY, but it might just be worth the ride if we could get together on a time and price. Thanks! Mike (slater98@aol.com)

$300-400 parts included.

A shop should be to do it in 4-5 hrs.

Is he still around? My nephew needs to have the clutch changed on the 99 SE I sold him a while back.
