quick help needed: will this fit my 97 GLE?

i figure the opening and thread pitch is the same, but i fear that the top (the handle) will be too wide to fit in the indentation that the OEM oil cap fits into.

will this fit my 97 ?

how about the radiator cap? i assume that is universal.

Yes, they will both work. You do realize that those are not real Nismo products, but knockoffs (if you care).

i dont really care that much, nor do i care if it says nismo or not.

where else would i find a cool looking aftermarket oil cap/radiator cap without spending 80 or 100 dollars?

is there a vendor?

do you have one? what does it look like? where did you get yours?

the radiator cap says it keeps better pressure in the system?

is that bogus or what?

also, my friend drives an 04 xterra and he wants one. i assume that will fit as well.
is that correct?

i wouldn't trust higher pressure ratings from a knockoff. could be true but...

nissan oil/radiator caps are near universal with exceptions being older models.

You may want to consider this.... found in the Group Deal Forum.
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=557635

Not sure if a matching radiator cap is available. If all you care about is looks, then you might find something decent at Autozone/Pepboys etc for the oil cap. I wouldn't change the radiator cap with a cheap knockoff/ebay cap, as that's a piece that plays an important role in the cooling system.

Yes, I have a Nismo oil cap and radiator cap. Bought them from good ol' ebay. Here's a pic of my them. Sorry, I don't have any closeups, but you get the idea.

"Better" is not the correct terminology. The cap simply changes the pressure point at which fluid goes back and forth from the overflow tank. For a stock car like yours, this is not needed or advised.

Not sure about the xterra cap.

If they fit, they would fit any 4th gen - year or trim line. I don't think specifying '97 GLE is necessary.

You guys and your Nismo products.

Shouldn't you be fixing your warm start problem vs buying cheap / useless / knock off parts?

i know this is getting off topic, but i was doing some research on google about the purpose of that rear 02 and when its "in use" and when its not.

from what ive read, the ECU gets a signal from that post-cat 02 ONLY during warm starts.
it would make sense that if its reading faulty, the ECU, thinking the engine is running rich, might try to compensate with adjusted output and fuel levels.

either way, i already have the sim. im gonna put itin this weekend and find out.

Have you ever thought of getting an FSM for your car, downloading one, etc? I would recommend it.

I think I might have before too, just thought I'd try again, in a very subtle fashion.

In this case FSM >

I hate all of my FSM's, every last one of them. They totally suck, I don't know how anyone could ever use these things, strange to think that most HS grads can go work @ Nissan, and actually use one of these to completely dismantle / complete a HUGE job, i.e. cams and timing chain, with ONLY an FSM and some nice tools to work with, it's insane how that works.

Also weird how all of these codes that everyone always asks about are in there, and to think that there's a list of possible causes AND fixes listed next to each and every code. I wonder what the world is coming to, that's so awful that one would think of this.

but why do that when you can post 3.00 posts a year asking what might be wrong and then take it to a mechanic and let him use his fsm?
