Im gonna add what I was always under the impression of. Im not stating to be 100% correct tho, this is just what Ive heard and believed, so if I need to be corrected, please do but hold the flaming.
Short ram intakes add power in the lower to mid range rpms but decrease high end power. CAI decrease your low and midrange power but add it up top. Stock intakes are just a simple balance between the two, giving even average power across the band. So they each have their advantages and disadvantages, its just a matter of how/where you want the power.
I prefer the low end power of the short ram cause just about every other mod adds high end power and I do 90% of my driving below 3000rpms.
If this is all wrong, feel free to correct me.

hmm...i would say if you want to actually find out what gains there are...dyno your car like it is, then put the intake on, dyno again....(its not that easy to find a dyno...but you will know for sure, lol)

wow, a civilized intake thread, lol.
i've switched back and forth between stock, short ram, and cai within the past month or so and noticed nothing really significant but i did like the cai the best, so im sticking with the PR style cai.

Has anyone ever tried mixing the 2?
I was thinking of a Short ram with a CAI attached. Kinda like a Y pipe shape. also I would leave in the stock snorkel to direct cold air to the short ram.
Am I thinking too much?
let me know what you think

I prefer the deep sound of the short ram. A friend of mine had bought a weapon _r, but took the head off it and replaced it with a K&N. I never really rode in a car with a CAI but heard a couple from standing outside of it.

i have had the Injen CAI after about a year and a half and I enjoy the sound just as much as the first day i got it. if i had to do it again, i would definitely spend much less on an offbrand being that the only real difference in brands is length of pipe, piping finish (chrome, black, or colors), and perhaps the biggest difference in price: the name. aftermarket intakes, in accordance with dyno results, provide little to no gains, but it is the sound and thought of having that "conversation piece" under your hood that makes you "feel" little to moderate gains. as far as low/end high/end power goes, i believe all intakes give about the same results. the main issue to consider when purchasing an aftermarket intake, which i personally like for the sound and the extra space in your engine bay, is the price. don't pay more than you have to. good luck.

about the injen, its right in the middle of the radiator and the hot tranny, so.....
when they are cold, the car hauls ***, it would spin first on my car no mater wat....but when your parts warm up, u lose power, but u still get a nice sound, but i got sick of it

i seem to hear "got sick of it" a lot in reference to aftermarket intakes. people inevitably return to stock.

well it sounds nice when your pushing your car, but when you drive normally, it still screrams most of the time....
i dont know if anybody bought the ebay intake like me, but it sounded like a 350z after installing it...pretty nice, but annoying
