The worst exhaust system I have ever seen

I just pulled it off one of my maximas. I'm surprised theres still a cat so it could have been worse. The pieces that are cut I did but the o2 sensor was just like it was and there was no muffler.
This is what it look like.

96 that has spent it's entire life in MN. It looks like they just cut up some exhaust from another car to fix this one.

Damn, that is bad. We see a lot of exhaust hack jobs come into our shop...

Let's see. Number one would have to be the Greddy TT Z that had exactly two flanges in the entire exhaust system; top of the downpipe from the turbo, and about 8" before the mufflers. H-pipe right around the diff area, ~2.25" crush-bent pipe all around. They actually hacked up some downpipes to weld their crap on to (Midas job).

Number two, Turbonetics single G came in with a damn muffler tip used as an adapter (!) from his TN downpipe to a slightly larger midpipe. Surprisingly enough, it didn't leak a bit (held on with u-clamps).

hhaha thats awful. why do people like exhaust systems with flanges so much though? I cant stand them..the gaskets always leak. I cut off all mine and connected them with exhaust clamps. I'd weld it all together if I didnt have to take it apart so often.

Allows for easier R&R of the system, proper installation will yield no exhaust leaks, and it's just the norm (been used forever, and likely will continue to be).

The flanges on my next exhaust system will consist entirely (short of manifold-head) of v-band flanges, I've decided.

ah yeah those are cool. I installed them properly but the greddy flanges had too much of a gap between them/were not flat. I think its the mixing and matching of the brands with oem or something.
