Power windows problem: cable stipped.

The tensioned cable in my rear power window that pulls the window up and down has stripped/frayed. Is there any possible DIY fix that I can apply to this? My window wont go up any further than halfway and the cable is a jumble of wires now. Or am I going to just have to have a shop take care of it?

You just need to replace the regulator. The regulator is the metal channel that the window slides on with the cable running through it. You can probably buy one from someone on this site for pretty cheap. I got one for the front drivers door from fanaticrockford. Installation (on the front door at least) was a breeze. One socket and about 30 minutes and you're done.
