Are Fogs supposed to get reallllly hot?

notice the melted spot to the right and then a few cracks throughout. that can't be normal right? i always run with my fogs on at night and last night when i got home i checked them and they were burning up.

should i just change the bulb and eventually the cover or is this normal? should i just not use fogs, well thats probably what i'll do for now until i get this figured out.

Are you running higher wattage bulbs? The glass shouldn't be like that.

Mine get hot to the touch, but I don't think they get hot enough to melt stuff.

It's about the same temperature with regular H3's and HID H3's.

Well Halogen lights tend to heat things up a bit! Even your el cheapo 55 watters are hot to the touch especially when sitting still, no airflow! But you need to invest in new or used foglight assys. and apply the protective pressure tape made for headlight/foglights/hoods/etc. you can find them online at griotgarage.com, weathertech.com and I believe the other one is laminateX.com. Cause you were hit with some flying debris!
I couldn't resist making a comment about post #3...Halogen H3's and Hid H3's don't heat up lenses the same. I've run 100w and 85w foglights for yrs and switched to HID about 8mo. ago and HID doesn't emit as much lense heat as halogen! Most HID only consume 35w or 55w!
