help with replacing bose system with aftermarket
95 SE 5 spd w/ factory bose. i ordered a pioneer FH-P8000BT (its a bouble din) and pioneer TS-A1782R speakers (6 3/4") 2 sets. what i want to know is do i just connect the power, ground, memory, and power antenna? then i just run the speaker wire from each speaker? i bought monster cable 16 gauge wire (2 spools to be safe). i just want to know if thats it or are there other steps i have to take cause ive never messed with a factory amp.. where are the amps? can i remove them? and if theres a thread/sticky for this im sorry for postin cause i didnt see one.

Each factory speaker has an amp located at the speaker so yes you would have to run new wires from the head unit to each new speaker. As for the tweeters i believe they are 1ohm so it would not be a good idea to hook those up to your aftermarket stereo. You would basically need constant, switched, and negative to your head unit and new wires ran to each new speaker. I'm sure you could wire the power antenna into the factory harness.

you could do what i did as an option...
i bypassed the factory amps (in the front doors) and wired in new pioneers with the factory tweeters.. but i'm also using a 4channel amp to power the front with my bose still working in the rear.
for the fronts i took my wire from the amp(alpine) to the harness in the back of the d.din. at the doors i'm still using the factory harness' i just cut the 'power/ground' for the bose amp and removed the bose amps, and re-wired it without the amps. it sounds all crazy but if you follow the colors from the d.din harness it makes sense.
time consuming but it works... (and i do SQ at car shows/ audio events..)
for the subs you'll probably need a line-out converter..

i'd search. i've heard some guys are adding bose subs to the bose system.. as for aftermarket subs i would say a line-out converter from the rear speakers, or something like that. ask your local stereo shops they should have a more definate answer.

It occurs to me that if you're replacing all the standard Bose system, you could build a custom bass cab with all 4 Bose amps and speakers in it - that would be capable of 200 watts - and make it so that it ports into the "armrest hole" in the centre of the rear seat. That would kick some *** and best of all be completely free!
