Knock sensor problem ... ebay knock sensor?

Hey i have a 95 maxima with headers and full exhaust and i currently was running the medium grade octane and now im switching to premium... well anyways my knock sensor code is on and i dont know if that is because my car was knocking and it was warning mee or becuase the sensor is broken, but my car seeemd to be running fine n such and never had any knocking.
So just to be safe im going to upgrade to premium gas (exspecially since im going to safc tune my car) and i wanted to know if this soudns like i should replace the knock sensor. I cant really tell if my cars been sluggish because the codes been on for so long i dont even remember

but if i am going to replace a knock sensor i found some cheap like 44 dollar ebay ones that im going to stay away from but i found some more expensive ones brand new from ebay stores that seemed like a legit deal that go for like 70 bucks, heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Maxim...spagenameZWDVW

and one more question, if my knock sensor is bad and is pulling timing and such, and upgrading to a higher octane do you think i should be able to gain some time at the dragstrip? I havent been sicne my catbacks, underdrive pulley, shortthrow shifter. I went when i had headers, gutted cats, removed resonator and an ebay can and i only ran a 15.2 do u think that could be improved with the new knock? besides the new parts? thanks alot - cory d

The cheap eBay ones are fine, IIRC there are no aftermarket companies making the VQ knock sensor. They should all be dealer parts, pretty much.

Got an eBay one for ~$45 shipped a long time ago, works fine

Don't bother trying to estimate ETs based on replacing parts, you'll rarely be right. Replace it, run, see what happens.

I also purchased an ebay Knock Sensor works fine for me. I was able to install the sensor myself but I put it on upside down and had to flip it around. What a pain!

I bought an Ebay KS as well, works great. It is a PITA to install though, I definitely recommend a universal joint, socket extenders, a lot of patience, and the expectation that you will get blood all over your block and LIM.

Lack of warranty in many cases
Lack of overhead by the seller.
Greed.

it's not a bad job at all guys...

the swivel/u-joint adapter is a must as are a couple, maybe even three, extensions.

just remove the upper air box and the air intake tube and you can get to it just fine.

Car was throwing knock sensor, egrc solenoid and rear o2 codes.

So after some research decided to go with the knock sensor first, got one from ebay 55 shipped because dealer want 165 for part and close to 200 for labor. OUCH!

I bought the car in this condition, and it seemed to run fine, had enough power, seemed a little bit thirsty on gas but no biggie.

Buddy of mine put in the knock sensor and i was shocked the difference it made, my fuel economy is up, car seems alot more peppy.

And the egrc solenoid code went away with it?!? but still get the o2.

Ebay and this site saved me some cash.
