car sounds like a remote controlled car (Video)

so the other day im driving through town and i start to notice a squealing type sound coming from the car. i can only hear it at low speeds.

watch this video and try to listen for it, you can hear it pretty well after i place the camera near the window.

could this be the recalled alternator which was never changed? i am getting it replaced this Thursday by Nissan though.

It does sound like the alternator (broken diode inside). Thats how mine sounded like when it was going out due to the recall. Get a Stethescope or a metal rod and put it on the alternator and place your ear on the rod and you can tell exactly where the sound is comming from.

Either that or you installed a supercharger and forgot.

it was difficult for me to hear the sound accurately but if it only happens when the car is moving and not when stopped than it may be a wheel bearing. I think the alt would make the noise in stopped in neutral under load with minor revs. (maybe vacuum leak?)

you can hear it best during the last 5 seconds as i'm coming to a stop. doesn't make any sounds like that at all when i'm completely stopped.

alright so i got it replaced today, finally after waiting 5 hours. it took them 3 hours just to get the car into the shop, AND i dropped the car off first thing in the morning.

but anyway, they changed the alternator and now I'm still hearing the same type of noise except now it's much much lower. I'm starting to think this is normal but idk.

but if it was the power steering pump wouldn't i hear it all the time? especially on turns? i don't hear it at all when im stopped and when i'm doing above 20mph i dont hear it either. it's the loudest around 5-10 mph

When my 5sp was low in tranny oil, it'd whine certain times, unrelated to turning, but related to certain rpm or gears. It was also tougher to shift in the morn, when cold.
