Clear Tails Question

I've searched and searched but can't find my answer. When installing the acrylic piece into the tail light. . . does it go into the actual housing or do you cut it to fit flush with the lens? It seems like it would be a PITA to fit it into the housing and make it stay. any advice?
Thanks in advance

Why don't you be more clear (no pun intended)? What year taillights? What style taillights? Pictures?

sorry i was at work and just tryin to get it out quick. I have a 97SE with stock tail lights. i'm taking the orange out of the bottom outer tail light. i peeled them apart like the DIY said. took out the orange reflector, and bought a sheet of clear acrylic plastic. I am wondering where to put the piece of acrylic plastic. do i cut it and place it into the light housing, or do i cut it and fit it right onto the inside of the actual lens? It seems like it would be easier to fit it to the lens and get it to stay.

Once you put the acrylic in the lense and you put the light back together it will hold its shape like it should.

cut yourself another shape that will wedge in there. you probably made your piece too small so that it has nothing to "wedge" onto. did you get understand that? i just wedged mine in there and it stayed, it was a slightly tight fit.

use a utility knife, I did mine last weekend and just traced the orange lense onto the acrylic sheet and then cut with a staight edge and utility knife and the cut or broke it along the skored line. Just put the cut piece where it belongs on the lense, kinda wedge it in there and then when you put the housing back on it will all be held in place.

ever tried usin google?

that utility knife didnt do **** for me

whenever i would press hard into the acrylic, it would spiderweb; and whenever i tried to score a line to snap off, it would just crack along some random line.

maybe acrylic in your part of America is better than mine?

either way, using an electric rotary tool is the EASIEST way.
