Keyless Does not work

I am suspecting my remote does not work since it's 13 years old, but i know my alarm works... so today i bought a battery from radioshack and still no luck... I am thinking to buy one of those remotes from ebay that are programmable
What do you guys think?

Any remote can be programmed, actually it is the remote module and not the remote that is programmed. Use the "search" for simple instructions on how to reprogram your car to your original remote with the new battery. Or you could buy a new one and send me yours so I have an extra

After the lights flashed you should have pushed 1 button and seen the lights flash again. Have you been losing range on the remote before it failed ( a sign of a dying battery)? Dont take this wrong but it is easy to put the battery in backwards. If not it's about 30 bucks for a used (crappy) remote on ebay.

actually my dad bought the car 4 years ago with the remote already not working then he passed the car on to me about 1.5 years ago... These 4 years we did not look into the remote but alarm did go off couple of times...

After the lights flashed i did press Unlock on the remote and still nothing... did it couple of times throughout this day... BTW, the remote on ebay is brand new but costs 40 bucks, and it comes with free programming??

edit: i bought the battery today and did put it the right way...

I had something similar. My parents just gave me their old I30 and the remotes worked sometimes. I tried changing the battery, but that didn't fix anything. I noticed that if I manually pressed the back of the remote in tight, it would work. It turns out that on my remote, the battery wasn't making a good connection with the terminals. I slipped in a couple thin pieces of cardboard between the battery and the battery cover (to force the battery to make a better connection with the terminals) and it works every time now. Just a thought, and don't know if it will really help you or not.
