Fog lights, toooo bright? what what?

So I'm driving home from a friends house at 2am...granted it's late, but it's a college town so there are other cars on the road. I need to take a right out of this neighborhood and a regular car and a cop drive by. I pull out behind the cop. He starts driving really really slow...20 in a 40. Then he pulls over in a turning lane, and I pass him. He then puts on his lights and pulls me over.

Me: "What's the problem officer?"
Officer: "You're fog lights are too bright; they are blinding me. Are they after market?"
Me:"No sir, they are standard and come with the car; I've never had a problem with them in the 5 years I've been driving this car"
Officer:"Well, you should only have them on when it's foggy. Ill give you a warning, but you need to take the car somewhere and have it checked out"
Me:"Okkkkkkkkk"
Officer:"By the way, your insurance card is expired" (as of two days)
Me:"Oh no. The updated card is on my desk not a mile from here"
Officer:"Here's a ticket; bring the card to the station"

....yeah yeah, insurance card...my bad.....but, fog lights too bright? what? and im in a college town where every frat boy have a jacked up truck with lights that shine directly into your rear view mirror......

--- I guess I could see if there is a way to adjust the foglights downward? .... ( i like driving with them on; I think it looks cool)

My brackets are old and rusted and no matter how hard i try and bend the fog light the driver side one always points up. Maybe you have the same problem park your car in front of a wall and check the alignment of the lights mine is hopeless maybe yours is not.

The cop is probably just jealous of how good our stock fog lights look

You don't bend the brackets to adjust the lights.
There is a screw on back of the actual fog light. It moves the lense inside the lamp to aim it. I think it's an 8mm, you can get to it from under the car while the lamp is on the vehicle.

Stupid law, same here, in canada.
Are you noticed that the mod "day light and fog's on" in the night is way better for the driver in front of you? It doesnt bother others driver at all, its help actually because you dont have light in the eyes.

New hid like benz or mazda 3 are worst.

I've never had a problem here in California and I have 100 watt bulbs in mine, on all the time.
