I'm considering getting a Venom 400 chip for my '98 anyone ever use this chip or any others? I saw it on a group deal for 300 bucks and I'm curious if this thing actually has any gains on a normally aspirated car. Gracias ~C

 

and swears by the hp gain on it...he says it kills gas milege though

 

I have not heard good things about the Venom 400 ECU. From what I have heard all it does is increase your speed faster with less throttle. Meaning that it will be about the same at full throttle, but half throttle will be a lot closer to full than before. This is why he is seeing bad gas mileage and thinks his car is faster, because his car thinks he is giving it more gas than his foot really is. I am not sure how to explain this and I hope it is clear. His times at the track: 1/8 9.862 Quarter Mile 15.226. This is his(MaxiPad96) mods to his car: 96 5-Speed SE, HKS intake, HKS exhaust, Venom 400 Performance Chip, Clear Bumper lights, Carbon Fiber Dash, JL audio 6.5 and W3 Subs...... I have seen an NA 96 5spd maxima with similar mods, without an ECU upgrade run sub 15's. This was MaxiPad96's first time at the track, and his times might improve, but for a $300 mod I would expect more than what it is showing so far. No offense to MaxiPad96 and his mods, just get some more info on the chip such as actual dyno's before chucking that money. I would say put a Y-pipe on with the cash instead. If I am wrong about any of the above information, I apologize in advance,and wait to be corrected.
