My first SES Light

Last night I was driving about 40 mph down a quiet road and all of a sudden this little orange light pops up on my dash. I've always thought they didn't work. (Fuel light, etc, etc,) Needless to say after 31,000 miles of driving I think I need to change my timing belt. After putting my 18's back on the timing seemed off and I feared it was my clutch...

I'm going to go to autozone and get the guy to scan for codes.

Having no service engine soon light for this long is mind blowing to me

I should also add I bought the car with 138k, it is just now turning on 168,100 miles

You don't have a timing belt, and why would you think THAT needs to be replaced?

Get the codes, report back.

FYI the chain last the life of the engine.

if your timing seems off its not cause of your 18s. my bet its 1 of 4 things.(the cel light) p0335,p0340,p1335,p1136. but we will never know cause we dont have any codes...... so get the codes and look them up. then search..............

also if your ''timing chain'' was going you would deffently would be able to tell.......

good luck

sorry i have been searching for an audi and timing belts are important for those cars. i kind of knew it was a timing chain because i had read it on here before. but i just wrote timing belt instead. thanks for the picture, it gives me a better picture now. although a little clownish
