A little problem after installing Intake...

So today i have installed this intake and you know the sensor from the stock air box... well someone before me super glued it to the air box so i could not remove it... so what i did is stuffed that "extension" that connects to the sensor itself into the k&n air filter... After i started the car it started idling at 400RPM!!! and when i turn on the A/C the car stalls... (it's a 5 spd) The car is idling rough now and is shaking... Check engine is on too btw...
Here is the intake:

So the question is... Is this problem caused by the lack of that sensor that is from the stock air box???
I think i would have to buy a new one too... does anyone know a specific name for it???

You need to plug that port, and get a better hose for the valve cover vent. You have a major intake leak. \

that hose was never plugged in, even with stock intake and never gave me problems... Plus that hose was not included

I still stand by what I said. Those hoses look cheap, get real ones.

the stock intake doesnt have an open port on it like that midpipe does....nmexmax is saying that you need to somehow close off that one open nipple on the midpipe.

My intake doesn't have that extra tube sticking off of it, but has a hole for the air intake temp sensor. plug that tube with something.

ahh, i missed the cel part. read the code and find out why its on.

as far as the intake air temp sensor, i think as long as its plugged up you should be fine. some people, however, do believe that the placement of it does have some affect on the performance though.

try plugging that port up with your finger while the car is running to see if anything changes.

yes that is an O2 sensor but what you are decribing in the airbox is NOT an O2 sensor,it is a intake air temp sensor ,as stated above.

The port on the intake being open is an unmetered air leak. Cap it and i bet the problem goes away/

Did you or did you not check your codes?

Sounds to me like the MAF is dirty or something went wrong with it. I would also leave the battery unhooked overnight to reset the computer to see if that helps any.

If any of those hoses in the picture are kinked the car will stall. Use the stock hoses if you have them, if not get them from the dealer or get reinforced water hose from home depot.

You always check codes because you "will" know what the ecu is having a prob with, not "I know the code might be for the air temp sensor". It takes 1 min to check it, just do it to be safe

You know the code might be? That makes absolutely no sense.

Just check the damn codes, or you won't know what's causing your problems.

Seriously, it takes 30 seconds.

I'll make it easy for you:
  • Check the codes: you may get help, solve your problem
  • Don't check the codes: No one will be able to help you, and we'll all be less willing to help you randomly throw diagnosis after diagnosis while your CEL is sitting there, unattended to

Intake air sensor will not cause you to stall,(it will only throw the cel)hell you can even leave it unplugged if you like trust me been there done that.

Cap off the coupling you have open atm and please change the rubber hoses...the kinks in the hose will cause you to die.

Make sure everything else is tight...ie hose clamps and no leaks are evident.

Also when you had it apart you didnt touch or mess with the MAF while you had it apart did you? Any kind of oils/grease/dirt will make those screw up and read wrong.

Hope that helps.....
