My clock is possessed

I want to know if anyone has had this problem. My digital dash clock in my 95 SE will stay blank and dark for weeks on end and then all of a sudden at intermittent times will come on bright with the correct time! I want to know should I get rid of the clock and fork over $170 for a new one or is this some sort of electrical problem. Any help would be appreciated.

maybe it's a problem with your alternator, not too sure exactly.

well it could be a power supply issue, but i would lean more towards a cracked circut board or something internal like that.you can probably pick a clock up on here for around 10~20 bucks

I would try wiggling the plug with it on and seeing if you can get it to come and go that way

If it were the alternator...never mind, and if it was a power supply issue it would not keep time. Bulb is bad.

I searched for it and I was thinking of the Bose display fix. Get ahold of Fanaticrockford for a used one, unless you want to tear the clock apart and experiment with resoldering joints, many times aged solder joints develop microscopic cracks (actually the way to fix the bose).

Just replaced the alternator so it's not that.

I did search on the forum and found a couple of fixes. The clock is keeping time so it's gotta be a bulb or illumination issue. I have time this weekend I will remove the clock and see what's happening. I'm pretty good with electronics so soldering shouldn't be an issue if I gotta do it.

How hard is it to find a used 95 SE clock?

hahaha if the alty was bad you would have more problems then a clock. bulb seems like a fit, so open it up and put in ne color you want or buy a used for 20 shipped tops.
