Battery died

My battery, a Kirkland type from Costco, died. It was 2 years old and their was no problem about the warranty, I got about $40 back. So I bought a replacement with a 4-yr warranty for $75 and the whole problem cost me only $35.
Now, I hear people here talking about having Optima batteries. It seems crazy to me... I checked out the price and it was north of $200!
So why would I want to pay that much? For $200 I could buy three regular type batteries. Do I really think that an Optima will last 12 years? Do I think I will still have the car in 12 years? Nah!

Not sure where you see $200 for an optima...Ive seen them for just over $100. The CCA and CA are a lot higher than most batteries and the reliability is better.

You get what you pay for.

I've wondered the same...I suppose I can understand people with huge stereo systems using one though.

I bought a 4 year old, used, 11lb battery and it still works fine! Oh yeah, it was only 20 bucks.

, that's about all they're good for IMO. I have a yellow top in my Camaro, which is my show and no go "audio" car.

As for prices, You'll find plenty in the $115-$135 range. Or just go to Autozone, Sam's club etc if you want it fast and local. $200+ is outrageous!

Blah, a properly functioning battery will work just fine in a daily driven car. a show car that sits alot does however need a battery that can be constantly discharged and recharged, which is what optima deep cycles do. their main purpose though was to be mounted in ANY position and sustain damage and still be functional and not hazardous.
of course I used to run $10 batteries in my cars all the time until lead prices went up and they became $25 batteries :blech:
I miss the old days
