thats a bad comparison. the appropriate comparison would be:

illumina : agx
blues : gr2

i had the gr2/maxspeed combo on my car a while back. i was happy with the comfort/performance. imo most ppl dont need adjustables and they can be more headache than they are worth.

i assume you are wanting to drop the car. what springs do you have your eyes on?

you should do some research on springs and their characteristics then choose struts to match. there are some that i would not use non adjustables for and some that i would.

I have GR2's w/stock springs and they are pretty stiff, almost too stiff. I would never put lowering springs on GR2's.

I have progress/gr2, and love them. They ride very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I paid 80 for the progress, and 250 for the gr-2. Not bad at all

I did some research, and I'm set on the illumina/progress setup that's coming my way next month. amazing struts for only ~$410 shipped from a website(forgot the name), and ~$160 shipped for the springs from the GD. perfect drop for a daily driver.

Don't forget to get the mounts and and bushings

Are you really asking this? But Illuminas over the stock replacement GR-2s for sure. You'll like them.

tokico illuminas are great with almost any springs but are not worth it if yer not lookin for a big drop... if yer gonna get the lip kit then i would suggest getting the h&r springs (drop: 1.4"F/1.3"R) or tein h-techs (drop: 1.6"F/1.2"R)... it isnt necessary to pair these up with adjustable shocks so i would recommend the kyb gr-2's over the tokico blue's... if u relly want adjustables then go with the illuminas... IMO the gr-2's would be the best choice...

Could the OP be confusing GR-2s with AGX? I've seen a couple sites with suspension packages with AGX+springs and Illumina+springs (usually Progress springs) for $600-700. I don't have them though, so I can't compare.

I'm looking around right now, and plan to purchase a set up this week. I just don't want to spend my money on something I'm not going to like.

My set up: 18x7.5/235/40

Question:
1) Isn't the S-techs Too low?
2) I was thinking of progress springs, havent seen any pictures of a car with Illuminas and Progress, any links or comments?

The s-techs will make your car look hella nice. For me they're quite normal for daily driving. The ride is actually very nice, not harsh at all with the stechs + illumina. I was actually surprised at how good the ride was, I have my settings at 3/5 all around.

my setup too, never had an issue with the gr2's and maxspeed is pretty smooth as well. ride's like an se now. put my setup on a year ago, still happy with the ride.
