how to improve D2 coilovers.
well I got some used D2's awhile back and really couldnt stand the ride quality. I didnt really know the spring rate of the springs, since they arnt printed on them, and the previous owner I guess didnt know either. also finding out other info on the spring was a little easier to get..like the internal diameter, and length, which is not readily available on the web...yes..I REALLY looked...ALOT. so with some simple research..and some legwork. I ended up going to ground control and getting some springs from them. Fronts are going to be 2.5" id..8" length and 400lb springs. Rears are 2.5" id..7" length and 300lb springs. I wasnt looking for all out performance..and really wanted to improve my ride. After installing the springs..its like night and day..there is a little more sway, but the ride quality has greatly improved. I am very happy with the results.
oh and I changed the drivers side axle at the same time. I have read that it can be a real *****...happy to say..it took me all of 10 minutes. the hardest part was...after reading that it was a 34mm socket...I had to go back to the store and get a 36mm socket. Even the fine folks at autozone said it was a 34mm...but its not.
another saturday of fun and excitement.
