Has anyone gone to Autozone and bought a Duralast coil but instead got a Nissan coil?
The lazy in me tried to take off #2 front coil w/o unplugging it and twisted it till it broke in 1/2 at the coil. So I called Nissan, and even with the shop discount it was too much. Called ARCH and they had one for $85.00. Autozone had theirs for $69.00. I went to Autozone and bought the Duralast coil. When I looked it over to compare, I noticed it look identical to an OEM coilpack. Then when I looked at the stem, it had NISSAN imprinted on it. I even saw a Nissan part number on it. It was clean as new. As I drove home I got uncomfortable thinking maybe someone swithced them in the box and returned a bum coil. I called 4 Autozones and none of the parts guy saw Nissan written on the coilpack(s). I put it in just to see if it would work and it did. But I still ended up going back to my ZONE and asking him to see another. None of them had Nissan stamped on them, so I asked for another one. Because he saw the coilpack when I opened the box to compare them in front of him, he exchanged them for me. Now the casings are the same, but this was just plain. Anyone else have this kind of experience? TIA.

it's not an unusual phenomenon. it is way to expensive for the aftermarket companies to produce EVERY part they sell, so some come from the OE supplier with the original stampings on them still.
My knock sensors are like that

He's correct, and that's they key thing to remember here, that Nissan themselves make very few of the parts found on your car. They contract with outside suppliers to build them to Nissan specifications. So yes, it is very possible that this coil was manufactured by the OEM supplier.

HAHA, the same thing happened to me! Im recently bought coils from Autozone too and I thought somebody was playing games. After speaking to a manager at Autozone, he told me they buy from different manufactures. Sometimes it happens to be from Nissan! All parts meet or exceed OEM specs!!!

I bought a coil front coil from pepboys (and I hate pepboys) for $60 plus tax and stuff it was like $64. The parts guy told me it was a new part after I asked if it was rebuilt. I then saw the nissan logo scratched off. It works. Then I realized I should have just bought six new coils on ebay for about $33 each.
