Stalling

So my Maxima has started stalling....its a 99 manual. No its not from errors in shifting.

I'll be cruising along, on the gas or off, and every now and then she just likes to stall on me. Recently replaced the alternator, but Im pretty sure it did this once or twice before that. I have no clue where to start looking to solve this but any ideas would be great since this stalling caused an accident at the beggining of December and I just got my car back from the body shop. 3300 worth of damage, all because the car stalled and I lost control from the lack of power steering/brakes....and it was snowing out!

Codes? Maintenance history? Done anything to right before the stalling issue started? When did it start? Weather related?

No CEL

Since Ive had it, new intake, radiator, and alternator..that's it

It just started doing it say mid november

Also, sometimes it does it in gear, other times in neutral (slowing down on offramps)

my guess would be something electrical, maybe a bad coil pack?
or maybe something messing up your air/fuel ratio?

idk, i'm sure someone with more experience will chime in

IMO...if it caused 3300...thats almost a total loss....unless insurance is paying for everything....

so all the lights went out when your car stalled while cruising?

u said new intake could u have forgotten to tighten or replace something ther have anoher set of eyes look at it u might think theres nothing wrong but it actually might be ur problem, also i dont know if this will help u but, my DAD has an 02 and his car would shut off randomly on the highway and the street, and no check light either, when i did a recall search on the 02 max, it came up as i believe the crankshaft or samshaft sensors. read this link it migh give u an idea-good luck

Did the same thing on my 240 when I swapped the RB in there. The problem was because of bad lining of hoses to the intake manifold. Whenever I hit the brakes harder than usual it would shut the car off. I suggest you rev it up a couple times lightly when coming to a stop. I know it not the same problem, but similar.

Check your intake manifold and see if all the hoses are good.

Hi everyone. I can't start a new thread for some reason so I will post here.

I have a 96 infinity I30 with about 180,000 miles on it. It now intermittently stalls when it drops around 500 rpms while I stop at a red light or stop sign. Sometimes putting it in neutral helps keep it from stalling.

I brought it in to a mechanic and they informed me that my valve gaskets were leaking onto the front o2 sensors which caused them to go bad. They said that replacing them and cleaning the throttle body would fix the problem.

I said ok. They called me back to inform me that after they cleaned the throttle body they test drove it and then the mass airflow sensor went out.

I told them that I couldn't afford to replace the sensors and the MAF so they just replaced the MAF and said it was likely going bad which contributed to the stalling.

$800 later, it doesn't feel any different. It hasn't stalled however I've yet to drive it much. The car shakes when stopped @ 500 rpms like its about to stall.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

SORRY I MISSED THE NEWBIE THREAD!

sounds like a clogged fuel filter... It starts right up every time, right? Your pump might be pushing enough fuel into the filter, but the engine will drag more than the filter can push out. Turn the key to the "on" position, but DONT START IT. Listen VERY CAREFULLY for a whirring noise. That should be your fuel pump "priming" your engine to start. If you can't hear it, your fuel pump might be bad or is going bad... then again, you SHOULD get an error code if it is going bad.
