HELP...Mushy clutch!!
HELP...Mushy clutch!!
Hello everyone...I'm going to show my ignorance here but I took of in my 99 SE 5spd today and my clutch felt real loose, it only had a little bit of feed back towards the very bottom. It was bad enough that I had to keep pushing it to finally get some release and be able to shift...and limped my way back home. What do you guys think is going on?
Take a look at the clutch master cylinder reservoir near the firewall on the driver's side. If it's empty, fill it up and bleed the lines with the procedure here:

If that fixes it you need to monitor the fluid level closely from now on to keep it from running dry again. If it is losing fluid quickly you'll need to find the leak and fix it (most likely the rubber hydraulic hose running to the slave cylinder).
If the line is bled and you still have no clutch you'll probably need a new master and / or slave cylinder. I recently replaced both on my 96.
