intermittent brake issue

I've got a problem with my maxima where the pedal some times travels all the way to the floor before stopping, this will last for 1 or 2 days and then it corrects itself for a couple of weeks and then does it again.

I've noticed that this happens to a lesser extent when i go on the freeway and not touch the brakes for a good half hour, it feels like when i finally do, the pedal travels further than normal. however after several min of normal driving this corrects itself.

I've also noticed that when I'm braking a lot (traffic jam) the opposites happens, it feels like as soon as my toe is on the brake its catching, the car feels some what more sluggish (as in i have to put my foot down further to maintain 60kph) there is also a horrible noise coming from what i think is the front left wheel, it sounds like a really bad bearing and creates a lot of vibration in the steering.

Tomorrow I'm going to do a full bleed of the system however I'm sort of worried about what else it could be? any ideas or anyone that has experienced this problem before? i'm worried it might be a bad booster, because if the car is parked and turned off and i push on the breaks over and over and over again, it keeps going straight to the floor. also, i can feel it sort of catch where it normally would, then give way with little to no resistance until it reaches the floor.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The pedal issue sounds like the master is going bad.
as for the vibration, well it could be a few things but first thing I would do is jack it up and see if I can find anything loose. I would do this pretty quick because of saftey issues. actually the brake issue is a saftey issue too huh???lol

I would replace the master. Intermittent brake problems leak to intermittent accidents and casualties.
