Maxima starting problems

Maxima starting problems

My check engine light came on and it pulled the crankshaft sensor. my car has 155 on it and i was wondering do you think i need a starter or will just replacing the crankshaft sensor will do it....

it cranks after like 3 times and it starts right up

does it make any wierd screeching sound when you start it or is it a normal start?

If the CEL pulled the crankshaft sensor then i think you should change that first to avoid spending money on an unnecessary starter.

I had starting problems also, i got 170 on mine, my CEL pulled crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor. I changed both and still had problems and my CEL stayed on. I also had to change my starter 3 times. Within a week of the 3rd starter my CEL disappeared and my car starts up much better now although it may still need work. I think i know what your going through. See what the others say, they may suggest differently.

It doesnt make a screeching sound but when i put the key in i have to twist it and hold it for for like 3 seconds then it will start up it feels like it needs some help lol starting right up ....

seems to me to be the starter but if you want autozone has starter checks just to make sure.

Ignition switch is another possibility going by what was said here.
