"Throttle Shock"
"Throttle Shock"
I've done the searching, and found a few threads:
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...shock+throttle
and
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...shock+throttle
In both those threads were some good information, but no real resolve to the issue.
I will try to describe how it feels in my car. It seems as though the transmission, or lock-up is sticking when you take your foot off the pedal, and there is a jerking motion. It also happens when you depress the pedal, I feel a clunk. I had a mechanic check the motor mounts, and axles, all is well. I have an automatic transmission. You do not have to step hard on the pedal, as a matter of fact it happens the worst when you just depress the pedal as little as possible. I try to be smooth, and it is impossible. It happens with the O/D off but feels a little different.
I just got the car, and when we jumped it to take it for a test drive, the battery was dead, and we didn't know until when got back, and tried to start it again. I think this caused a whole slew of electrical problems. So far I had to replace the knock sensor, EGRC, EVAP control valve. The car was fine before this (I know the previous owner) She kept it immaculate, and perfect service records. There is 152k miles on the car, but it still smells new inside. I want to trick this car out, but I need to get ride of the codes, and feel secure about the transmission.
BTW, I did the knock sensor with the help of info gathered on this site, and had a mechanic solve the other 2 things, but I helped him. I was told to drive at least 100 miles before inspecting it, and right about 100 miles I got codes again. 1 of the same 0705 EVAP control, which I will take back to the mechanic and have him figure out, the other was a new one, 1103.
I tested the TPS, and got a swing of 850-4000 ohms, so I adjusted it to 500-3800, thinking this might help the problem.
This morning the car shortly after start up starting reving to high for 10 seconds (1500rpms) then dropped back down.
Drivability and power seems ok except for the throttle shocking thing. I know I put a lot of information here, but I am just trying to be complete as possible, any any help would be appreciated. Possibly some of this stuff is related. I need to get the car code free to get inspected, just a matter of time before I get a ticket. I am already $564 in hole, I am hoping to not spend too much more. I would rather be buying rims and struts and stuff.

I get the same exact thing except I've got a swapped motor 5 speed. The bucking can be HORRENDOUS if I dont press in the clutch when trying to cruise in a parking lot in first gear. I'm not talking about letting the car bog at too low of an RPM either. I thought it was my TPS as well or maybe the fact that I dont run an IACV. I cant figure it out for the life of me.
I've rebuit the tranny, filled the motor mounts with polyurethane etc. I initally thought it was the stiffness of the suspension pushing my foot into the super sensitive throttle repeatedly over a bump but I can take my foot off the petal and it will continue to buck on its own. Throttle cable isnt attached to the firewall or anything crazy like that...I dont get it.
I know for a fact my TPS is off a little bit...Ive got it maxed out turned to the right to get it as close as itll go. Of course my set up is wayy different than yours but our problem sounds real similar.
