Monro Rip Off

Hey I just got my tires rotated at BJ's in Attleboro, Mass. I asked the service guy to give me a price sheet to see what the cost would be to fix some problems. I would do it myself but I have no tools to do it. Here we go:

- Front Pads $188.99
- 2 Rotors $215.98
- RL Loaded Caliper $365.99
- Front CV Axles $450.00
- Alignment $89.99

Total - 1340.90 + Tax

What I'm wondering is, if anyone is in the SE Mass area or RI area, could you help me out with some of these repairs. I could buy the parts, and of course compensate you for your time. Also BEER is included

PM me!

You'll get much better responses posting this in your correct regional forum.

Those prices are insane! It only cost me $250 to replace both front axles, and that includes labor.

In NYC PARTSWITH LABOR

- Front Pads = $60
- 2 Rotors = $120 <- Cheap cause he already doing brakes
- FL Caliper = $120 @ most
- 2 Axles = $200 ( That how much i paid )
- Allignment = $80 <- Computerized

For the first 4 items you should be getting a package deal cause everything is all at the same spot .

I agree, Kevin Goodwin (KRRZ350) is your man. He's only about 30 miles from you (Middleboro), and just opened a new shop. Since Feb., he's done my clutch, radiator support and struts, and is scheduled to do my exhaust next week.

After getting my struts done, I just got an alignment in Plymouth (Town Fair tire) for $69 - first alignment for me in 14 years and 197K miles. I probably could have gotten it cheaper if I had shopped around a little more.

For the really simple stuff (specifically pads, rotors and calipers) PM or email (NAFDDUR@GMAIL.COM) me and I might be able to help you out as well. I'm a little farther from you (Duxbury) but I'm retired and home all day so I might be able to give you a hand.

That is insane. All of that work including the alignment can be done in just over an hour. Alignments around here go for 59.99

as some have shown, prices are all over the place depending on who and where it is being done.
getting a second opinion is highly recommended since you obviously do not trust where you went (otherwise you wouldn't have asked here).
Those prices come close to making sense if he priced each job seperately (as parts and labor). However standard billing procedure is to combine labor times for pads and rotors, axles only add a little more since the wheels are already off.
Does RL mean Rear Left on the loaded caliper? if it does, is he resurfacing/ cutting the rotor too?
I prefer to use semi-loaded calipers rather than loaded calipers anyhow. no point in changing pads on one side only, get a set separately and do both sides
