VQ block boring

I have a spare VQ block laying around. It came out of my 95 max. It was removed because the shop that worked on my car said it dropped a valve. How much do you think it would cost to bore out and build up?

See the old thread that just got revived a few days ago (engine swaps). Lots of insight from Daniel B. when he was here (sorely missed)and other knowlegible members . In a nutshell, he doesn't believe you can bore it out. Walls too thin, but he has a very interesting theory of using a crank and rods from a 3.5 motor. Hey you can be the first .

Steve in Philly's old engin, that he sold to MardiGrasMax was board to a 3.2L. So, it can be done, but I don't believe that the work was very reliable. Could have been the company that did the work or Steve's "accident" that totalled the car. In either case, MGM had to do a lot of work to get the motor functioning properly in his car... not sure if this was a result of the boring, but I'm sure that it didn't help matters.

Re: can be done

Yeah that's why I said limited. But Honda guys get more displacement from their open blocked aluminum blocks. But the term should be re-sleeving I guess? I don't think you can just bore the existing steel sleeves? I don't know.

But anyway, I doubt this even entered the original poster's mind anyway.
