Thanks, now I can't make up my mind. But I did think about something. I buy premium fuel, good oil and filters so why skimp on spark plugs.

 

im running the iridium something or another the cheap NGK iridiums, they were like $6 a plug i use them more for how long they will last more than there performance, the car had a slight different sound after they were installed, slighty more raspy, nothing eye brow raising, just something i noticed it could be just me thou......

 

NGK Plat here always 200k on the car and still running with no problems.

I'm trying to say that anyone that drives a vehicle and doesn't even know what a spark plug is must be mentally retarded or something.

There really should be a basic maintenance test done to get a driver's license. If failed, required to take the car to a shop at every maintenance interval, or something of the sort.

Only NGK OEM platinums for me. Mine were changed at 108,000 kms (67,100) miles. Bosch are more for European cars and should not be run in a 4th Gen Maxima. For my money, I'll stick with the NGK platinums and not go with the coppers.

 

Long story short, NGK Platinum or NGK Iridium is the way to go, period.

 

First 97 Maxima...NGK Coppers...

Current 99 Maxima...NGK Coppers...

I've only had one issue (2 weeks ago) where I didn't tighten a plug down all the way a month ago and it started to misfire, idle like crap, etc.

Once I re-tightend, car purrs. I've had Maximas for 4 years now, never had any issues related to spark plugs.

NGK Coppers (BKR5-11) changed every 30k on the dot FTW!

 

Ran three sets of Bosch +4 Platinums for 300K in 82 Max. no problems.

Currently running NGK Iridiums in 98 I30.

Curious to try out Bosch +4 Iridiums.

 

I think they ran NGK OEM, but I had Iridium 2s and have nothing but praise for them.

 

NGK Platinum came stock for a reason. If Nissan thought it wouldn't be best, it wouldn't be in there.

Bosch Platinum. Seems like no one else uses it. will it hurt my car?

 

I just did my plugs in my max, first time since i got the car about 10K ago. Put in NGK plats. always will. and it was night and day difference. Some odd reason some one put in bosch.

 

If you read around a little you can find that certain brands work better on certain cars. Leave the bosch for german cars and use ngk on your jap car. And don't buy the single platinum plugs for like $3 each because that's like buying full synthetic formulated from dino oil. Either get the ngk double platinum oem laser plugs which are like $10-$13 (pictured above) or get ngk copper plugs for less than $2 each, just replace the coppers every 30k miles and you're good to go.

 

ngk single platinum's on both of my max's they are like 2.79ea
