Stalling problem when going neutral...
Stalling problem when going neutral...
Sorry for the long post but this is the best info I can give at the moment. This just started to happen a like 2 weeks ago and now everyday, and its got me a little puzzled. Ok this is what is happing. I am thinking it is a MAF sensor but no codes. Repeat. NO codes. I hate when I have an issue with a car and no codes pop up.
The car would run fine while idle when I first start it up. SO can't be a fuel issue, because it will run like crap. It runs perfect. I also just replaced the fuel filter with a 300ZX TT one. Still happens to stall. Ok, Anyway, I will make it a mile down the street and stop at a stop sign and it will just die when I push the clutch in to get it into neutral. First thoughts? Could it be the IACV? I don't think so, because I ripped that whole thing about 7 months ago and cleaned it nice and no codes from that either.
The only things I can think of is a bad ignition coil or possible mosture inside something causing this. On average the car will die on my 4-5 times a day and sometimes not at all. What gives?
I really don't have the kind of money to just guess and throw in a new maf which at BTW a mind blowing $250 bucks. I just replaced the Knock sensor just to let you know(even if that was bad the car would not stall cause of that)
I tried to hear for vaccum leaks, and did not hear any... guys I am stumped and this is getting me really angry because I try to take care of her as much as I can.
Now here is one thing. Would a EGR malfuction flow cause in issue? I had that for over a year and half and never felt like cleaning it out. Could that cause a stalling issue?
also, when the car stalls It will be really tough to start it up with out hitting the gas. Like its hurting trying to start. So I doubt it is sensor related. I am putting my bets on spark coils but those also are mad expensive... =[
I feel like I am driving at the price of a Bimmer or a Merc. Even thier sensores ar cheaper then ours... what gives.
Assuming your EGR valve decided to stick open at random, it could possibly cause stalling like that.
The symptoms would seem to point to the IACV, which could also affect restarts if it stuck closed, or close to it (requiring you to open the throttle to start it up).

yah, I cleaned the Throttle body with the IACV. You think it could be EGR? I did get that EGR flow, but what wouldnt I get another code it it stayed open?
Also, she died on me again today and she was kinda tough starting back up. I had to give her a lot of gas to like 4 RPM, then I could go. I been getting a lot of cops attention because of this... Got pulled over twice in one week because I keep revving her from stalling.

I will rip it apart this week, and check the IACV. How do I check for issues inside the IACV? Also, if that was stuck open, wouldnt that throw a code?
Also, Not sure if this will help or not, but I just cleaned my Chrome tip 2days ago spotless and not is blacken quite a lot. I used to be able to clean that and it would stay shiny for like 2 weeks.

ok, I will give it a shot, but did the same exact things in my post happen to you? I mean, This is happening 4-5 times a day(not once in a while). And right when I get into N. Now, I do feel it bogging and chugging sometimes with the gas on as if the car is dying and starting again do to being engaged.
well with mine, first of all sometimes it would struggle to start. i had to try twice sometimes. but the part that is similar to yours is that when i was coming to a light or stop, i would throw it into neutral to coast the rest of the way. the rpms would drop to like 300, lights would dim, everything would bog, and it would shut off. It didnt shut off everytime, but it did drop to under 300 rpms everytime, i had to start giving it gas after i put it in neutral to keep it from dying.
I am having this same exact problem, I've got pulled ova numberous times because of this problem. the things that you've described are identical to the problems I'm having. Where is the IACV located?
Right next to the TB. Look at the resonator, the large hose on the firewall side goes directly into the IACV.
The same thing i had with mine, i seafoam it and all, always run with 91, sometimes 89
, but the thing was gradually getting worst, i did just that,
changed the idle on the IACV, now on the road when shifting it will pop to almost a 1000rpm and in the stop with clutch engaged it will drop normally
to almost 600rpm. Its a plastic nut on top of the IACV. But for me when
moving it the change on idle speed was almost not noticeable, it was just
after i start driving it that it seemed better.

There's a newbie thread for this, really.
