Pardon the weird picture, its for the picture game thread which, btw, everyone should get involved in! Different strokes for different folks. I got these dark grey altezza's a looooong time ago and I personally like them. They do look better at night than in the day time I will say that to the haters. Im going to smoke out the clear plastic where the light doesn't show through to give it a more custom and unique look though. We will see how it turns out, not quite sure how I will do this, maybe use a compass....who knows lol

pot calling the kettle? just a lil bit? I wasn't aware that a thread had an minimum age requirement in order to post. At least he found the right thread and didn't post a new one like some people. Comments like that turn people away from forums, it doesn't matter. AT ALL.

hahaha if you want that I think wal-mart sells spinners too. We are going to have to agree to disagree on the Niteshades though. I think if you take the effort it doesn't look half bad. As you said, no it doesn't look as good if I mixed it up and used a spray gun but for the average guy without a compressor? Niteshades is fine as long as you have basic knowledge and go through the processes of sanding and clear coating

In my opinion ALL smoked/blacked-out tails look ridiculous...yours included. But thats my opinion. Does it matter?...not one bit. Im guilty of doing that to my tails in the past (8 years ago). Its dangerous, illegal, and anyone who says that just as much light is visible during the day is full of ****.

True. I didnt think his looked that bad. I used to have mine "smoked" as well but as soon as I got a ticket I replaced them with aftermarkets and was glad to do so because I was tired of seeing everyone with the exact same look.

exactly I dont understand why people cant understand this. The entire reason the aftermarket exists is because everybody's taste is different. Everybody has the clears now so I would never put them on my car but im not gonna call your car ugly for it. Thats retarded. And I dont even have smoked tails lol

Your taillights aren't too far off from that look. People have differnt tastes when it comes to modifying. It just doesn't mean I have to comment on it every time I see it.

the difference is in person. when you see mine you can tell they were sprayed professionally, and they give a great "murdered out" affect which is what im going for, across the entire car. when theyre turned off they literally match my body panels(which is also a <year old paint job.)

and the reason for my beef with niteshades is because when i was young i used to use it. thinking what most people think of this site. then a technician showed me the "right" way to do it, and ive been trying to spread the word ever since.

tinting taillights can be very tacky youre right, but some people (id like to think me) do them for an overall theme, and want them to be as beautiful as possible.

/rant.

I've done the "niteshades" thing, not super dark, and it CAN look good if you take the time to prep the lights, clearcoat, wetsand (800 -> 1000 -> 1500 etc.) and polish. Looks basically factory when done right.

wow, kids go back to high school and argue over mediocre ****. Don't do it on here...

Now, i havw never "smoked" my taillights, but i did see a good product. Its a translucent smoke finish. I think i saw it at Pep boys or something. But the thing is, to get the shine on them, you must sand, polish, wax, buff them. Then they will be glossy.

Stop the non-sense arguing.

Thought I would add my new setup in here, since all of the "smoked" hate is running rampant. DTM mod to red clears (yes I know its chipped, this is/was just an extra). Will also have 3 row LED boards (should be here today or monday)

Well mine are plenty visible during the day, and Ive passed inspection with them and have never been pulled over for them as well.
Ive even had police directly behind me while Ive been driving and they never gave me any issues about them.

That would be Night shades.
I used night shades in the past as well, and the only way it looks decent is to wetsand and polish but it would always fade eventually requiring the need to be redone. I finally just had them sprayed professionally with automotive paint.
