What controls how fast the Rpms go down when the gas pedal is released?

Is is the IACV? Cause that is what I think it is, I am wondering this because I think my RPMs just drop so fast ever since I fixed my MAF (which was causing my car to randomly die) Now that my car is fine and not dying, I will down shift off the highway and I will go into a lower gear and obv let go of the gas pedal and RPMs will drop like normal.

However to me, my RPMs nose-dive faster then ever and I have to blimp it more which causes more gas, and not only that but when it drops it sometimes goes down to 300-400rpm and the IACV catches and bobbles back to 500-600.

This annoys me because you loose power steering around corners and power in your car when it hits those low RPMs. I am a good driver/racer and shifter but I can't heel-toe with these pedals like I can with others(plus my brake pedal is low as hell).

SO I just wanna know how I can slow down the rpms going down.

Adjust idle speed correctly, including the default throttle body stop as well as the IACV. There is a procedure for adjusting the TB which involves disconnecting the TPS. Do a search on here and you should find it. I think it's also detailed in the service manual. Once both are set correctly and cleaned, your idle should be controlled perfectly.

yah, I know how to do all that, but will it fix how fast the Rpm goes down when you let go of the gas?

AFAIK, and from what I ave determined, all of these are involved.

IACV, MAF and TPS. I am having the same issue you are, however I have the 00VI swap. If it turns out that my issue isnt because of the a33 IACV, and it is either my MAF or TPS, then that would really help!

I guess one way of telling what is wrong is by getting an A/F monitor and seeing whether you are lean or rich when you let off/it drops to 300 rpm. Then you know if you're getting too much air or not enough air.
