Rear Speaker Removal - 1997 Max

How do I get to the rear speakers? Looking through the trunk, the screws
are not accessible. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the help. This is what I needed. BTW, what is the purpose of having the speakers this way.

Nick-
What happened to all the Maxima info on performanceIX.com? Has it moved? It looks like it's all BMW stuff now.

The photo posted by cooler2000 is what I used to figure out the rear speaker removal except it leaves a few things out. You have to remove the plastic panels on the c-pillar (the one that the seatbelt goes through) by pulling with hard constant force. Then you have to lift up and remove the rear shelf to access the speakers. The process sounds hard but its simple, just dont be afraid to use force.

be careful pulling on the plastic panels! they break VERY easily. try to reach behind them and find where the connect and pull closest to that point.

The site has been revamped, and everything is in .php now instead of .asp. I don't know either language, so the other guys haven't had time to convert it. If someone would like to volunteer, (because I worked 60 hrs a week), maybe we can put the maxima stuff back up. Right now it's just on a server.
