Misfiring

I've had this problem for about a month (I haven't been driving the whole time though).

I can unplug the pass side front (left bank) coil pack and the middle one too and the engine speed does not change. Every other coil pack produces a change in idle speed.

I know that the injector clips are getting signal, I've changed plugs and swapped in known good coil packs (all 6 actually) and nothing's changed.

2 things I could still check:
1. Pull the injector and see if it's really firing (always fun!)
2. Do compression test on 2 affected cylinders

Can I check the coil pack connectors to verify that they are getting signal/power?

Anything else I can do/check? Any ideas?

TIA!

You could use an ohmmeter to check the resistance of the suspect injector, should be between 10-14 ohms measured across the two pins. I would bet this is the problem. Just replaced one on a 95 a few weeks ago for the same issue.

Ok I give this advice a couple times & people tend to laugh at it or ignore it. But this is what happened to me. Cylinder 2 misfire. I changed plugs; bought brand new coil pack, cleaned injectors; replaced injectors; cleaned the fuel system among other things. I was talking to a old friend of the family that used to own his own shop. He told me that it sounded like I got some water around the spark plug. He told me to take out the coil pack and spray above the spark plug some WD-40 and also spray some in the hole at the bottom of the coil pack. Let it sit shortly then turn on the car with the coil pack still out so that it spits out the excess water WD-40 ect (rough idle sometimes). Shut off the car put the coil pack back in & check it out. Should clear up that misfire. Hey for a cheap fix it's worth a shot.

run a compression check.

Here's what I'll do next...

1. Charge battery (can't test compression with my half dead battery)
2. pull ECU codes
3. check ohm reading on injectors
4. compression check
5. do the wd40 thing?

OK, no ohm reading on the bad 2 cylinders (stayed at 1) and 11.4 on the one that is firing on that bank.

Anyone have any used injectors FS (or even borrow to see if it's the culprit)?

Also, running an off the wall type of compression test, I got about 185 across the cylinders. What I did was only remove the spark plugs from the front 3 and tested all of them and I got the 185...so I think the compression is ok.

Seems to me the culprit is the harness. Your compression numbers look spot on...and there is a little room for differences (I believe your lowest and highest reading should have no more than a 7-14psi difference IIRC). The question is now, does your ECU provide the right resistance as well. I would determine the pins for the affect injectors and get a measurement on the other end to ensure the ECU isn't culprit.

I used an injector tester from autozone that tests for signal over the wires and all the wires lit up the tester. I'm pretty sure it has to be the injectors.

I could not find any Maxima injectors but I did find a pair of Infinity G20 injectors. Are they even close to the flow rate as a 95 maxima injector?

Cost...pull a part didn't have any Maxima injectors. If they don't/won't work, I'll have to buy some.

Anyone know the flow rates on 95 Maxima injectors and 95 G20 injectors?

I think I've fixed it. It was 2 bad injectors. I got some injectors from a G20 and according to some websites I've found, they are the same basically. I put them in Sunday night and it seemed good until I tried to drive it on Monday and it started running crappy again and I smelled tons of gas and the Max was drinking it profusely (1/4 tank w/in 25 miles).

Pulled the injectors and I totally destroyed on of the seals. Got new seals for the new pair and reinstalled and she's purring nicely again.

I'll update if anything comes up but for now, we are good!
