Regrease New Starter??

I installed a starter that I got from Auto Zone and I get that annoying high pictched grinding noise before the car starts. I bump it a couple times and it starts right up. Should I have to regrease a new starter? Or could this thing be defective?

Well, i got my new starter at pepboys....first one had a HUGE grinding noise, second would only start the car after like 15 cranks. and the 3rd one i got after i took both of them back had a HUGE clunking noise like my engine got hit with a sledge hammer. So i decided to return all of those and i went to napa and got a starter. Fine ever since. But that was my experience with pepboys. So you might want to grab one at napa instead.

It probably wasn't rebuilt properly. Bring it back and get a new one under the warantee though. Lifetime warantee FTW!

All the grease in the world ain't gonna fix an Autozone starter.

High-pitched squeal and grinding are permanently installed when they are rebuilt.
