want to lower car

i want to know what ideas are good for this. I have heard about struts springs and smaller wheels. was thinking about getting new tires soon, so i was thinking about starting there. But i still want to hear what you guys think since i just started learning about cars.

thanks guys

how low do you want to go? I am saving up for Tein Basic Coilovers. From what I have read they will give you a nice drop while keeping some ride comfort.

seriously... just get some 14's ... 12's if you're feeling daring.....NOT...

i was in the same boat as you in the early summer... check out this site for the basics, they discuss the setup on a 5th gen but its about the same if not exactly the same for 4th gens.
http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/sp..._decision.html

i initially planned to go with the H&R + illumina setup but then because money was becoming more of an issue, i went with progress + illumina, plus the progress gave a little more of a nicer drop. pretty satisfied so far...

a little bit of a warning financially ->be prepared to spend at least $600-800... chances are once you get in there, you'll notice alot of other small things that need to be replaced (strut bearings, strut mounts, boots, bushings...)

just get coilovers. Tein is good and jic is good. ksport is popular but I hear slot of people complaining about them in this forum and toyotanation also. There are a few others but I've never had experience with them. If your gonna spend like nearly 8-900$ on a spring shock setup just save a little more and get something really sweet. I have stech& gr2s presently but I bought them out of necessity(stock was so blown it rode like a pogo stick) and price (like 450 for the whole setup including mounts). But if I was keeping the max I would totally be in the market for some coilovers. The thing about spring shock combos is you just have to hope you like it and if it's to loose or tight or to low or high there's nothng to can do but buy all new springs and struts and try a different setup and see if you like that one. If your stock is fine save and save some more maybe get rims (but not smaller ones) and certainly don't get smaller tires. So save and get coilovers an you will be able to adjust the height exactly hownyou like it and the stiffness as close to how you want it as possible. Good luck do research

Read that link (you will have to sign up).

That post reviews a bunch of different coilovers.

No doubt. The coilovers were exactly half of what I paid for my 98 Max...

How is that the same boat at all? Did you pay $300 for your car?
