Exhaust Question

I'm aware of the Exhaust stickey, but I have a few questions.

My muffler is kind of rusting out, so I was thinking of replacing it.

With an aftermarket muffler, can this change the sound of your exhaust? I honestly know nothing about exhaust. I wouldn't mind having a bit of a noise coming from my car, but at the same time I don't want my Maxima to sound like a weed whacker.

I don't have hundreds of bucks for a catback either.

So I was just curious what kind of modifications might add a sound because quite franky, I don't understand any of it.

Careful because you may find out you like your Maxima nice and quiet and not to have a rumble sound like I did. If you get something like a Walker Quiet Flow it will sound like stock, at least you know what you are getting. This muffler has a lfetime warranty so it's not a bad deal. The problem with using something else is it may sound ricey and you could be disappointed. How is the pipe between the cat and the muffler, you may find it also needs replacing, good luck.

I would definitely like my max to have a rumble, but like you said, I don't want rice-mobile.

That's what I'm curious about, how I could get a nice sound without spending a ton of money on a catback. I do need a muffler though regardless. The pipe between cat and muffler is ok, could probably be replaced.

search the classifieds on here for a intermediate pipe (b-pipe). And maybe a magnaflow muffler leaving you with a custom setup.
