Stock 16's with sprints question
What size tire loks good with the stock 16" SE Wheels and Sprints?
I'm trying to decide between 215/225 and 50/55 Series tires.
Pics would help me decide, as would your experiences.
And yes, I did a search before asking.
Thanks,
IanS

Ian, remember my car? It has 225/55 on it with the stock wheels. Are you still interested in getting my tires by chance? Lemme know.
To fill the gap I would say go with the 225/55. It's just a tad bit taller than the 215/55.

So 225/55 are taller than 215/55? I am still a little unclear as to what these numbers represent...Ill be buying tires soon for stock 98 SE rims...anyone care to explain real quick...thanks
The first number (3-digit) represents the width of the tire (the part that touches the ground)...and I believe it is in milimeters. The second number (2-digit) is the width of the sidewall. The stock 16" wheels come with 215/55-16 tires, but you may benefit in handling by adding 225/50 or 225/55 tires because they'll be a little bit wider.
Hope this helps.

They grip really well. I had them on for the urbanasian.com GT Challenge, as you can see in my sig. They helped me to keep up with a GSR! I've had them for about a year now. When ya gonna be back from you're vacation? You can take a look at em and let me know then.
If you want some reviews on them check out www.tirerack.com their the Bridgestone Potenza RE730. I paid $650 for everything. Still under warranty. I'd like to get at least $300 for em. But, we can talk about it when you check em out.

225/55/16 is taller then 215/55/16? How so? The only difference between those two tire specs are width.
I have had 55 & 50 series (height) on my Max. There isnt a big difference if any. The bulker the tire, the bigger it will look.

There's is a very slight difference. There's a link somewhere to a website that tells you how off you're speedo will be with the different size tires. For some odd reason even though only the tire should be wider it is slightly taller at the same time.
iansw, yeah, we might be able to work something out....

I have 225/50 on stock 16's......they look VERY simalar to the stock 215/55.......the difference is VERY minimal with regard to wheelgap. 225/55 would fill the gap a little more....but I plan on lowering my car sometime so I went with 225/50's...

Stay with 215 55 16. I right now have 225 50's and I dont like the way it looks. The tire buldges off the rim, cause the rim is only 6.5" wide. The tire is also smaller in diameter so it'll take more space to fill. Not only that the speedometer reads maybe 3% too fast.
