I have no throttle response at start up in D or R

When i initially start my automatic my car seems to have no throttle reponse when put into R or D. I can increase rev's and the car tranny doesn't seem to want to (bite). It rolls up to speed but there's very little throttle response.

When my car warms up after maybe 5-10 seconds... it's fine. All my fluids are level and i don't have any codes or any signs of misfiring.

What could be possible answers to this weird problem?

Most likely slipping until it warms up. What does your ATF look like?

It would be a very good idea to let it idle for a little bit and see if that controls the slipping in the morning. You don't want to burn up the clutches.

before my tranny went, when i would put it in drive or reverse, it would either stall, or have the same symptons as yours. I thought that it was an idle problem or osmething else. Took it to the mechanic and exactly what pmohr said, it was the clutch slipping. I then lost reverse and had to get a new tranny.

do a filter and trans fluid change. also change to synthetic ATF.

on several of my cars I've had an issue where they won't shift until they warmed up when it was cold out. the transmissions were fine, but the fluid wouldn't flow well when it was cold.
