OEM Fuel filters for 4th gens different then the ones that came with the car?...

I am sorry, searching for this question was tough, I didn't find anything remotely close to answering it.

I got a OEM fuel filter from Kings Nissan for my 98 Maxima. I just went out and took out the stock one and replaced it with the new one, however, I noticed that they were a little different, the tube at the top of the fuel filter was curved and about 1.5 inches longer on the new one as opposed to being just straight and very short like the one I took out of the car. Besides that, there was no difference in size or anything

I'm probably just being too paranoid, but has anyone seen any difference in the OEM replacement fuel filters as opposed to the stock ones?

Also, I could not fit the hose on top all the way down to where the cap of the filter is because the tube is not made to go that far, the fuel path is now about 1" longer then before, That should not have any effects correct? As long as the fuel pressure is the same... I know I'm just being a paranoid freak. any feedback is appreciated.

thank you

Shouldn't make a difference unless it kinks the line...

If you're paranoid, call the dealer and verify the part# they gave you.

part number is 16400-0M200

300z is 16400-N7600JP, but i don't think the dealer gave you this one unless you asked for it.

i have a 99 gxe and when the dealer did mines, the new filter was different also. the part numbers should match.

ok, thanks guys.. I did ask the dealer specifically for a 98 Maxima. However, I am checking out the box now and the back of it lists cars like Sentra, Stanza, some other old Nissan models which aren't being made anymore.
i will check the part # tomorrow mourning
However, I should add that today i put 120 miles on my car and it ran beautiful the whole night. Plus my fuel economy seems to have been improved. once again, thanks

Strange, your fuel line hose should go all the way down on the fuel filter's port. I just replaced my fuel filter a few days ago and it fit perfectly.

yeah, normally it should.... as it did on the one i took out of the car which was the original one that came with it.. The hose is made specially that only a select segment of it fits onto the tip, and there is a clamp... i'll check part #s tomorrow

Apparently the filter is used on a LOT of Nissan models. The 4th gen A32 model should be listed on the box though. Mine was the same filter # as Max808.

Take it back and get the fuel filter for a 300Z. It is larger and will provide more filtering over its life reqiring replacement at 30,000 rather than 15,000 miles like the smaller one made for the Max. It fits. Check out www.vqpower.com. (See "How-2" Page) I use it.
