Long term effects of TannySwap?

Does anyone know how the guys that have done the tranny swaps transmisions and gear are holding up ? im thinking of doing it, but i hear that it can cause a lot of problems in the long run, and i just want to get info from both sides. Thanks.

Hate to ask the stupid question, but what problems are you thinking of? I don't see why the engine or car wouldn't know it was still driving an automatic.

I dunno , but i just heard from some mechanics , they said they wont do the job because it almost always turns out bad in the long run...

From what I've read, the conversion works great, but there's one niggling issue; the check engine light stays on for some reason. Something the ECU is looking for is not quite there in the conversion. Not sure what, though.

Yes , and i was going to take an SE ecu so i could get rid of that dam speed limmiter too . kill 2 birds with one stone

Yeah, you're right. Turbo95Max did a 100 percent successful tranny switch;

your problems would shift to worn clutches and such.. but nothing will happen when you do the swap.. the engine is still the same, just different driving scheme..

the check engine light is result of O/D from the auto ECU.. you have to switch out for a manual one.. if i can get a buyer for my brand new auto tranny i am gonna go 5spd after christmas i believe.. cant wait to go faster then slow.
