Throttle Cable..

Throttle Cable..
I just adjusted my throttle cables because they seemed slack.. now at a warm idle, the RPM hits 1200... Is that ok? or is it going to hurt the engine??.. I do like how it sounds with the Greddy then before..but if this is bad I will just back it off..
Thanks,

I don't understand why everyone is tightening there cables. There is suppose to be slack in it! Now too much slack 'could' be a problem. What I would do is open the hood with the car off and have someone push the gas pedal to the floor, you should hear a 'clink', as the butterfly valve opens all the way up. If you from there tighten it all your doing is streching the cable when you floor it. This 'mod' is way over rated and really not needed. A check should be called for that's all.

its easier to peelout now that i tightened mine
on a side note-
me and my friend were messing around one time and we tightened his and we got it to idle at like 2500 and were riding down the street at idle, and it was shifting gears.. it was funny

the cable should not have enough slack that it sticks out of the metal crescent shaped loop. it should be just tight enuf that it remains inside it...so that when your foot hits the gas, there is no "play" before the car actually moves. Factory idle is adjusted at between 650-700rpm on an automatic with teh car in neutral (not park for some reason) and all accessories off.

i think i was the one who started this all..sorry. hehe
Ethan (emax95) was the first to post a throttle body cleaning procedure...and I followed it.
Unfortunately, I was winging the deinstalltion of the TB, kinda loosed that TB stop screw, and i kinda messed with the lines too.
But luckily the org got me back on track.
I had idle and acceleration problems for a while..surging and unevenness...could you ever guess what the problem was?
it was my battery...now, it runs sooo nicely and smoothly again. funny how a battery can do so much.
