Noticed that the tail lights weren't on, so I changed the fuse which immediately blew. I replaced it with a 10a which held and I used just to get me home. Then, after I turned off the car the brake lights were causing the dash lights to illuminate and I'd get the reminder beep. Today while driving the interior lights were coming on anytime I hit the brakes.Common problem? All the other fuses in the boxes are good, both underhood and in-car. Does this sound like a bad relay or a short? Thanks .

Short. Its probable that it is in the main junction behind the fuse box. Im not sure really how you would go about diagnosing this though...

someone on here just had a simular problem, turned out to be a bad filament in one of the bulbs. one filament wire broke & shorted the other filament. check all of your bulbs closely.

Thanks for the help. I'll check the bulbs tomorrow.

And sorry about that run-on formatting up there. I'm on a mobile device -didn't realize I was bound to html.

Late pass here....

Just got around to looking at it. This was for my mom's car and she doesn't live next door.

Was a bad bulb. One of the contacts looked like it was melted and shorted.

Thanks sooooooo much for the help and Happy Holidays to all!!!!!

Our '95 tail lights quit, fuse was blown; I replaced it and the lights have been working for 2 weeks since. However, I have the same issue as you which is the park lights and guage lights illuminating when the brakes are applied.

Will it only be bulbs in a certain circuit? I figured I should check all the exterior bulbs such as brake/tail/and front park lights. Which one fixed it for you?

First post, site is great and I found this while searching for a rough running issue. Two problems at once so I'll be busy here for a while.

If it only occurs when you hit the brakes, what makes you think a front parking light would cause the issue?

Check the bulbs and sockets in the tail lights, that's most likely where your problem is.

Who knows, perhaps a bad bulb up front in the same circuit as the tail lights causing an issue. Prior to this, I honestly would not have thought that a bad tail light bulb would cause the dash lights to illuminate when the brakes were applied.

that would be interesting to see, and diagnose.
