Well, my driver's side A-pillar has been rattling for about the last month when driving over pretty much any rough surface. Today I decided to pop that piece of trim off and see if I could tell what was up with it. This trim piece is held on by two clips which clip into the metal behind it in my car. Also, there is a tab in the trim piece which sticks into a slot at the bottom in the dash board. This tab was my problem. There are actually a couple of tabs down there, one big and a couple of small ones. These are covered in a fuzzy black tape (to reduce rattling, I'm sure) in my car. The problem was that this black tape had worn through on the big tab, allowing it to rattle around and pop out of that slot. I put some black electrician's tape around it (best thing I had on hand), re-installed the trim piece, and wallah, rattle gremlin banished. Just one word of caution: there are two clips holding that trim piece on, one at the top of the piece, and one in the middle. I broke the one in the middle while popping the trim piece off (you also have to peel back the weatherstripping on the door side) DOH!.. anyway, those clips are pretty fragile, so be careful if you're taking that piece off. I tried to glue the clip back on, but that didn't work really well, so I just reinstalled it with the one clip. I guess I'll have to replace that piece when it starts falling off while driving Sorry for the long post, I was just glad to banish one of those rattles.

thanks for posting that man, I've been having the same problems...only difference is I have a 96 with the tweeters in the a-pillar. I'd love to pop those things down and strap the wires down and perhaps put a little weather stripping along the part that touches the window to kill all of the rattle gremlins, but I'm scared I'm gonna break something too. Did you pull from the top part and work your way down?

I did start prying from the top. One of those clips is towards the top, one is in the middle. My a-pillar doesn't have the tweeters in there, but there was a rectangular, about 2"x6" piece of insulating foam in there glued to the back kinda where they would be... guess somebody thought there were rattles even at the factory. If my rattling comes back, I'm definitely going for weatherstripping against the window down there in the corner. I also think the secret to popping those clips off is to make sure you pull perpendicular to the a-pillar plane... try to pull them straight off. I was kind of prying to the side when that clip broke. Good luck.
